「クモの糸にぶら下がる」
ちょっと面白かった記事です。 

「クモの糸にぶら下がる」-芥川龍之介の小説を彷彿させる難題に、実際に挑戦した人がいる。奈良県立医科大学の大崎茂芳教授。試行錯誤の末、人間がぶら下がるのに必要な量のクモの糸を採取。3年前、長年の夢を実現させた。 
その過程で様々な発見が。例えば1本に見える糸。実は2本の繊維でできている。しかも2本のうち1本が切れても、クモが落下することはない。もう1本は保険というわけだ。クモが4億年の進化の中で得た安全の基数が「2」であることに教授は感銘を受けたという。『クモの糸の秘密』岩場書店。 (聖)

There is a novel written by Ryunosuke Akutagawa, "Hanging on the spider's thread".
And there really is a person who tried to hang on the spider's thread. He is Dr. Shigeyoshi Osaki,
professor of Nara Medical University. He had collected enough spider threads so a human can be hung on them and he realized his long-time dream three years ago. During his experiment, he
found many amazing things. The spider's thread looks one string but actually it is made of 2
strings. If one gets cut, another one can still support the spider, so it won't fall down. So the
extra string is an insurance. During the spider's 4 million years of evolution, they got the number of 2 in order to survive. The professor was deeply impressed by this.
